BALTIMORE, Maryland – The H2Ounds Invitational came to a close on Saturday evening, with both Marist men's and women's swimming and diving finishing in second place in the competition. The winner on both sides of the event was Loyola Maryland. The Grey Hound women scored 1028 points in the competition, while the Marist women were right behind them with 964.5 points. Loyola's men's team won with a little more cushion, scoring 1119.5 points to the Marist men's 837.5 points.
Following the second session, the Marist women had a half-point lead over the powerhouse Loyola, but in the end fell just short. The second-place finish for both teams was the result of great performances on both sides, and was a very big accomplishment. Both Red Fox teams finished ahead of the other two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schools in the competition, Iona and Saint Peter's.
Esabelle Gervasio was named the Female Diver of the Meet, placing first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Additionally,
David Gallino claimed Male Diver of the Meet for his performance over the weekend.
- The women opened the third session with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Juliet Nowak, Georgeanne Zimmerman, Veronica Stureborg, and Megan Lasto clocked in with a time of 1:46.10.
- The men and women had back-to-back second-place finishes towards the middle of the meet. Jackson Klarsfeld took second in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:03.39, and then Leigh-Anne Zanella placed second in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:06.79.
- Adam Kapusta was responsible for Marist's only first place finish in the third session, winning the 200-yard fly with a time of 1:49.76.
- The men closed the competition with a fourth-place finish in the final event, the 400-yard free relay. The team of Ethan McCormac, Ante Dany, Ahmed Sallam, and Kapusta clocked in at 3:05.81.
- Sidney Judson finished as the leading scorer for the Marist women, totaling 50 points. Heather Hartmann was right behind her with 46 points.
- Kapusta led the men with 53.5 points. Klarsfeld finished a half-point behind him with 53 total points in the invitational.

The Red Foxes will have just about a month off, before returning to the pool in early January. Marist will travel to take on Binghamton on Friday, January 10 in a dual meet competition. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
