POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Both the Marist men's and women's tennis teams return to action this weekend, as the two teams will combine to play three games. Both the men and the women will travel to Hamilton, NY on Saturday, and face off in a doubleheader against the Colgate Raiders. The women are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. and the men are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The following day, the women's team will return home and host the University of Massachusetts in what will be the Red Foxes first home match of the season. The match is set to begin on Sunday at 4:15 p.m at cross court in Wappingers Falls.

The Red Foxes picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, February 2, defeating the Bucknell Bison 5-2 as part of the Siena Invitational held at Tri-City Fitness. Marist won four singles matches on the day, with a few of them going down to the wire.

John Oxner both were able to steal third set victories.Â

The Red Foxes suffered their fourth straight loss, after winning their first match of the season. Marist was defeated 7-0 by UPenn on Sunday, February 3. Marist was swept in the competition, unable to take a single set against the tough Quakers.

The Raiders are 2-1 so far this season. Most recently, they defeated a fellow Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference team, the Niagara Purple Eagles, 7-0. Colgate dominated in doubles, as teams of Jack Ablon/Rohan Gupta, Scott Bickel/Alec Dardis, and Noah Rosenblat/Tyler Krants were able to help secure the doubles point for the Raiders.

Colgate's women's tennis team is currently winless in the 2019 season. The Raiders head into the match against the Red Foxes with an 0-4 record. Last time out, they were defeated 4-3 by Niagara on Sunday, February 3. The doubles point ended up being the deciding point in the match, and it was the team of Ali Hutchinson/Olga Donchu of Niagara that defeated Nicole Condas/Callie Bartimer of Colgate to clinch Niagara's victory.

UMass is 2-2 so far this season. After winning its first two games, the team is currently on a two-game losing streak. The two losses both came down to the wire, as the Minutewomen suffered back-to-back 4-3 loses to Brown and Harvard last weekend.

Both the men's and the women's teams will hit the road again to take on Hofstra University on Saturday, February 16. The men's match is set to begin at 1 p.m. and the women are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
