Women's Lacrosse to Play Niagara in Midweek Game

Both Teams Look for An Important Conference Win

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York:  The Marist women's lacrosse team will travel to Niagara Falls, New York to compete against MAAC foe Niagara Wednesday, April 10th. Gametime is set for 3:00 PM.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Marist was defeated by Fairfield University 10-9 in a close battle. Kelly George cut the deficit to one late in the second half but Marist could not get its shot off to send the game to overtime. Delaney Galvin had a tremendous game with 15 saves in goal. Samantha Mehalick had a hat trick and Kelly George and Hailey Wagner contributing with two goals each.
 
SCOUTING NIAGARA
Niagara University is currently 4-9 after winning its last game against Quinnipiac 15-14. They are currently 1-3 in the MAAC and 2-3 at home this season. The Red Foxes are 2-5 when away. Niagara is averaging 11.69 goals per game, good for the third highest total in the MAAC conference. As a team, they are at the top of the conference with 145 saves and an 11.15 saves per game.
 
FACTS AND FIGURES
  • Marist won the contest last season 18-9. The Red Foxes lead the series 16-8.
  • The match-up features the top two scorers in the conference. Mehalick leads the conference in scoring with 3.69 goals per game while Rachel MacCheyne is second with 3.54.
  • Wagner looks to reach a major milestone against Niagara. With ten more draw controls, she will have 500 career draw controls. This is a feat only four other players in the history of the NCAA have accomplished.
  • Niagara's Lauren Paul ranks third in the conference in caused turnovers (3.08) and sixth in ground balls (1.67).
