POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Men's lacrosse will take on #4 seed Canisius in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinal hosted by Marist College. Face-off is slated for 7:00 PM at Tenney Stadium. Students can attend the game for free with a valid ID.

Marist defeated Canisius 10-8 Friday, April 26 on a nationally televised ESPNU game.
Peyton Smith was nearly perfect at the face-off X, winning 17 of 21.
Joe Tierney led the offense with two goals and two assists. With the win, Marist clinched the first seed in the MAAC tournament and won the regular season championship.

Canisius is 8-7 and 4-3 in conference play. The Golden Griffins have found more success on the road than at home, posting a 5-3 away record. Jacob Buck has had a fantastic rookie season, tallying 41 points on the season. Brad Nordstrom, who transferred to Canisius for his final season of eligibility, has been great between the pipes. He currently holds a 9.89 goals against average and .547 save percentage.

- The Red Foxes last won a regular season championship in 2015 when they also won the MAAC championship.
- Canisius won the MAAC Championship in 2018 as a #4 seed. The Golden Griffins won both its semifinal and final games in overtime.
- Marist's freshmen class has helped boost the offense. Jojo Pirreca, James Lyons, Jamison Embury and Hunter Embury rank second, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in points.
- Inside lacrosse recently came out with its top 25 midseason DI freshman rankings. The list included Marist's JT Roselle and Canisius's Buck.
- Smith's performance at face-off has been impressive all season. Nationally, he currently ranks eighth in win percentage (.651) and 20th in groundballs per game (6.71).

If Marist wins, it will play the winner of Quinnipiac and Detroit Mercy on Saturday, May 4. The game with be broadcast on ESPNU at 10 AM.
