POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Recent Marist women's lacrosse graduate
Hailey Wagner was named to the 2019 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-American Third Team for at-large programs. Wagner was the only female student-athlete from a MAAC institution to garnish All-American honors and one of three women's lacrosse players to do so.
Wagner is the 18
th Red Fox to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American. She is only the second women's lacrosse player to earn the honor with Erin Betsch earning it in 2011. Wagner is the first Marist athlete to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American since Gabrielle Kelliher was named one in 2017.
The Red Fox had a spectacular senior season, breaking the NCAA record for most draw controls in a season with 224. Wagner proved to be more than a draw specialist, finishing second on the team in goals (36) and third in points (48). She graduates holding all program draw control records and ranks in the top ten in career assists (6
th), points (6
th) and goals (8
th). Wagner was recognized as the Marist Female Sportsperson of the Year, given to the top female in the graduating class based on outstanding achievement in their sport.
Wagner's 2019 record breaking season earned her the following accolades:
- All-MAAC First Team
- All-ECAC First Team
- IWLCA Northeast Second Team
- Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American Draw Specialist
- All-MAAC Tournament Team
In addition to being a stellar athlete, Wagner has shined in the classroom. A Biomedical Major and three time All-MAAC Academic Honoree, Wagner has made Dean's List every semester on campus. Wagner was awarded the President's Academic Achievement Award, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA. Wagner and the women's lacrosse team finished with the highest GPA of any female team for the 2019 spring semester.
