Sophia Chavarria captured the fourth singles flight in straight sets, but Marist was unable to overcome UNCW in a 6-1 loss at the Cross Court Tennis Facility on Thursday afternoon.
The Red Foxes sustain their first dual match setback of the season to fall to 2-1, while the Seahawks improve to 1-1.
Chavarria took down Annie Gupta 6-2, 6-4 to secure the Red Foxes' lone point of the day. The victory gives the Wellington, FL native her fourth singles win this season and boosts her dual match record to 2-0 in No. 4 singles.

- In the second position, junior captain Sam Galu and senior Jada Tijani fell to Celeste Matute and Anna Daniels, 1-6.
- Chavarria and senior Amy Galloway were halted 3-6 by Rachel Marthinsen and Lauren Robbins.
- After gaining an early lead in No. 1 doubles, junior captain Julia Gabay and freshman Vanessa Ciano lost 7-5 to Sarah Horn and Sarah Merrill, giving UNCW the doubles sweep.
