PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - #24 Marist water polo went 1-1 at the Bruno Classic, routing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 12-6 but falling to #23 Bucknell 16-12. The duo of
Carolyn Gauvin and
Viktoria Orlova scored 13 goals between them to lead the Red Foxes for the day.

- The Athenas were able to tie the game 4-4 halfway through the second period, but the Red Foxes went on a 6-1 scoring run over the next 10 minutes of gameplay to take home a dominant victory.
- Orlova scored all three of her goals in the third to record her second hat trick of the season.
- Carolyn Gauvin beat the defense twice for her first multi-goal game of the season.
- Sawyer Alter, Lauren Smith, Anais Mathes, India Alter, Bree Marmion, Katelin Harris and Shinae Carrington each contributed a score to propel Marist to victory.
- The Red Foxes trailed by just one goal at the break, but the Bison's steady flow of scoring allowed them to keep a consistent lead in the second half and earn the win.
- Carolyn Gauvin erupted for five goals to drive Marist's offense. She's the first Red Fox to score five goals in a game since Grace Doerfler on April 14, 2019.
- Anais Mathes and Viktoria Orlova each recorded a hat trick to cap off strong days for Marist.
- Justine Castro added a goal as well in the Red Foxes' second game of the tournament.
- Marina Hyham made seven saves in the net to anchor the defense.
Marist travels to California for the Triton Invitational, where they will face a pool of many of the top teams in the nation. They open the weekend against the hosts UC San Diego on Saturday, February 8 at 2:10 p.m. EST.
