POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team earned a 76-54 home victory over Niagara on Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at McCann Arena. It was the largest margin of victory this season for the Red Foxes.
 

Summary

• An 8-0 run staked Marist to a 13-5 lead at the 14:09 mark, and the Red Foxes led the rest of the way.
• Marist expanded its lead to 10 on three occasions in the first half.
• A basket by Michael Cubbage in the waning seconds of the half gave Marist a 42-33 lead going into the locker room.
• The closest Niagara came in the second half was nine with 18:47 to play, following a basket by Greg Kuakumensah.
• Marist held Niagara without a field goal for a span of 10:16 in the second half. In that time, Marist went on an 18-5 run.
• The Red Foxes' largest lead was 25 on two occasions.

• Jordan Jones and Matt Herasme tied for the team lead with 18 points, followed closely by Braden Bell with 16. Jones shot 8-for-9 from the field, while Bell shot 6-for-8.
• Jones, Herasme, Bell, and Tyler Saint-Furcy tied for the game high with six rebounds.
• Herasme and Cubbage tied for the team high with five assists.
• Marist held a 37-20 edge in rebounds, and a 34-12 edge in points in the paint.
• Marist had 22 assists on 29 field goals, and committed just seven turnovers.
• Marist shot .547 (29-for-53) from the field, .370 (10-for-27) from three-point range, and 1.000 (8-for-8) from the free-throw line.
• Marcus Hammond had a game-high 22 for the Purple Eagles, who committed just five turnovers.

 

Notes

• Marist set season highs for field goal percentage, assists, and rebound margin, and had a season best for fewest turnovers committed.
• Marist was perfect from the free-throw line for the third time in its last seven games. Prior to this stretch, the Red Foxes had not accomplished that feat since their season opener in the 2014-15 season.
• Jones tied his career high in scoring. It was the fourth time he scored 18 points in a game.
• Herasme set a career high for assists.
• Marist is now 3-0 against Niagara under head coach John Dunne.

• Marist is now 7-18 overall and 6-10 in the MAAC.
• Niagara is 9-18 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
