Women’s Tennis Narrowly Falls To Bucknell

McAllan, Galloway, Tijani Record Wins In Singles

WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania – Wrapping up the weekend in the Keystone State, Marist Women's Tennis dropped a close contest to Bucknell on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Red Foxes fall to 3-5 in dual matches in 2019-20, while Bucknell improves to 5-2.
 
DOUBLES
  • The Bison took the doubles point by winning the first and second flights.
  • Junior captains Julia Gabay and Sam Galu fell short against Paige Leavy and Dax Seidlin 6-4 in the first position, while senior Amy Galloway and junior Sophia Chavarria fell to Sofia Ayuso and Daniela Bellini 6-0.
  • Senior Jada Tijani and freshman Nina McAllan won the third flight 6-3 over Jill Auteri and Chloe Zilkha.
 
SINGLES
  • Tijani evened the score with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Zilkha out of No. 6 singles.
  • The Bison answered with Bellini beating Chavarria in the second flight 7-5, 6-1.
  • Galu fell to Ayuso 3-6, 4-6 out of the fourth position, giving Bucknell a 3-1 lead.
  • McAllan kept Marist in it when she dispatched Leavy 6-1, 2-6, 10-3 in a No. 3 tiebreak.
  • However, Bucknell sealed the win when Gabay fell to Siedlin in straight sets, 4-6, 4-6, in the top billing.
  • To conclude the match, Galloway outlasted Auteri in the No. 5 spot. Winning the first set 6-3 and falling 2-6, the senior took the tiebreak 12-10.
