LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist defeated #9/7 Army West Point, 17-9, on Tuesday, February 18 at Tenney Stadium.
  • The Red Foxes were able to hold the Black Knights scoreless for nearly 30 minutes, stretching from the end of the first quarter to the middle of the third quarter.
  • Jamison Embury led the Red Foxes with four goals and three assists, totaling a game-high seven points.
  • Weinman had a hat trick in the game, which included a highlight-reel behind-the-back goal at the 14:18 mark of the second quarter which was ranked #2 on SportsCenter's top-10 plays of the night. Pirreca, who also had two goals, tallied one of his three assists on the play.
  • Joe Tierney also had three goals, on two goals and an assist.
  • Peyton Smith won 17 of 28 face-offs (61 percent), and also chipped in 10 ground balls and two assists.
  • Jake MacGregor made 16 saves in net for Marist, helping lead what was a dominant defensive performance.
  • The Black Knights had the advantage in shots, 45-38, but the Red Foxes held the edge in shots on goal, 27-25.

PROGRAM MILESTONES
  • The #9/7 Black Knights were the highest ranked team the Red Foxes have defeated in the history of the program.
  • This was the Red Foxes' third win over a ranked opponent in the last five years, and its first since a 10-4 win at Air Force exactly three years ago to the day.
  • This was the first time Marist men's lacrosse has defeated a ranked team at Tenney Stadium in the history of the program.
  • Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson has now beaten four ranked teams in his tenure at Marist, including a win over #11 Albany in 2011 as an assistant coach.
  • This was the first time the Red Foxes have defeated Army in the history of the program.

RECENT HARDWARE
  • Marist swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards this past week, after upsetting Army.
  • Embury was named MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, after leading the Red Foxes prolific offense to its highest scoring game of the season against a ranked defense. In addition, sophomore defenseman JT Roselle was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman defenseman Kurt Wessner was named MAAC Rookie of the Week.
  • These are the first MAAC weekly awards in the careers of all three players. The program has won four overall on the year, as Smith also won MAAC Defensive Player of the Week back on February 10.
  • Embury was the main catalyst behind the Red Foxes upset of the Black Knights, as he had an absolutely dominant performance. He collected a career-high seven points, pouring in four goals and chipping in three assists. The four goals matched his previous career-high, while the three assists also set a new career-high for the sophomore attack.
  • Roselle also had a career-day against Army on defense, as he was able to cause a career-high five turnovers and scooped up four huge ground balls. He even scored the first goal of his career in the game, and also dished out the first assist of his career in the upset.
  • Wessner also played a pivotal role in the victory, although the stats may not necessarily paint the whole picture.  He did collect a career-high three ground balls, but he was a key cog in a defense that held a ranked offense scoreless for nearly 30 minutes, holding Army eight goals under their season average of 17 goals pe

SCOUTING HARTFORD
  • Hartford finished last season 4-11 overall, and 2-4 in conference play.

  • Hartford is 1-2 so far this season, and has yet to win a game on the road.
  • Last time out, the Hawks defeated the Canisius Golden Griffins by a score of 10-4. They had previously lost to St. John's and Sacred Heart.
  • The Hawks were picked to finish last in the America East Conference this season, in a tie with Binghamton (who the Red Foxes beat earlier this season).
  • Carter O'Connell leads the team with 10 goals scored this season. Andrew Moynihan has a .610 face-off percentage and leads the team with 12 ground balls.
