POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's and men's lacrosse programs are this year's winners of the Team Strength & Conditioning Awards.

The award was established in 2010. It is presented to the men's and women's teams that have shown the most commitment, dedication, consistency and leadership while exhibiting an exemplary attitude in the weight room.

Women's Lacrosse
  • Has won this award six times, all of which have occurred in the last seven years.
  • No other women's program has won this award more.
  • From Strength & Conditioning Coach Aaron Suma: "The women's lacrosse team had an upbeat energy they brought into lift that isn't often seen. They were always focused, intense, and had attention to detail in everything they did, but there was also another element they brought into every lift that many mistakenly think is a mutually exclusive quality to Strength and Conditioning, and that is fun. Fun in the sense that they were enjoying the process of working hard and getting better and were always upbeat. I want to thank head coach Jessica Wilkinson and her staff for emphasis to the team on the importance of working hard in the weight room."

Men's Lacrosse
  • Won the award for the seventh straight year, and eighth time overall.
  • No other program has won the award more.
  • From Strength & Conditioning Coach Aaron Suma: "The men's lacrosse team comes into every lift with unmatched intensity. They consistently pushed themselves to and past their limits day in and day out. Coach Wilkinson and his staff emphasized the importance of Strength and Conditioning to the team and the correlation to their potential on field success from day one. From the top on down, everyone bought in and the energy and culture were incredible. I am grateful to everyone associated with the program for the opportunity to help them in my area of knowledge."
