Siena Tops Marist In Series Finale

Red Foxes, Saints Split Weekend Contests

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team was defeated by Siena, 63-50, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at McCann Arena on Sunday afternoon.
 
Summary
  • Marist held Siena without a field goal for the first 4:45, but Siena's first field goal – a three-pointer by Jordan King – staked the Saints to a 5-4 lead.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers by Ricardo Wright and Matt Herasme staked Marist to a 12-7 lead, and forced a Siena timeout at the 12:22 mark.
  • A pair of free throws by Herasme extended the Red Foxes' lead to seven at the 10:56 mark, but Siena answered with an 11-4 run, and took the lead on a basket by Aidan Carpenter at the 6:16 mark.
  • Henry Makeny's three-pointer with 3:29 left in the half put Marist back up one. Makeny's three triggered the first of four lead changes over the ensuing two minutes.
  • Siena scored the final four points of the half, and took a 30-27 lead to the locker room.
  • Marist tied the score at 33 apiece on a pair of Tyler Saint-Furcy free throws with 16:58 left, and at 41 all on two Wright free throws at the 10:43 mark. However, Siena answered with back-to-back three-pointers by Nick Hopkins and Jalen Pickett.
  • Marist cut its deficit to two on back-to-back baskets by Raheim Sullivan and Saint-Furcy. The Red Foxes trailed 47-45 with 7:36 left.
  • Over the final seven minutes, Siena outscored Marist 16-5, and held the Red Foxes to one field goal. The 13-point final margin was the game's largest.

  • There were 10 lead changes in the first half. Although there were two ties, Siena never trailed in the final 20 minutes.
