Balanced Scoring Lifts Marist Over Columbia

Red Foxes Have Double-Digit Scorers

NEW YORK, New York – The Marist men's basketball team earned its first victory of the season on Friday night with an 82-67 triumph at Ivy League foe Columbia.
 
Summary
  • Marist never trailed. Ricardo Wright hit three three-pointers in the first 3:22, and Marist jumped out to a 14-4 lead.
  • Columbia used an 8-0 run to tie the score at 17 at the 12:38 mark of the first half. However, the Red Foxes responded with a 9-0 run, which included five points from Noah Harris.
  • The Red Foxes led 46-42 after the first 20 minutes.
  • Columbia cut Marist's lead to one on two occasions early in the second half. However, Matt Herasme's three-pointer with 9:47 to play started Marist on a 13-1 run. The Red Foxes led by double digits the rest of the way, and their lead swelled to as much as 21.

  • Herasme hauled in a game-high eight rebounds, followed closely by Tyler Saint-Furcy with seven. Saint-Furcy also led the Red Foxes with three assists.
  • Marist shot .587 (27-for-46) from the field, .522 (12-for-23) from three-point range, and .842 (16-for-19) from the free-throw line.
  • Liam Murphy led Columbia with 15 points.
