POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior guard
Matt Herasme of the Marist men's basketball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Male Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Herasme is a Business Administration major and a two-year selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team. He was named to the NABC Honors Court last year.
On the court, Herasme is a three-year starter who is known for his intensity, and is often called upon to guard the opposition's best perimeter threat. Through four games this season, he leads the team in minutes (30.0) and rebounds per game (6.8) while shooting .500 from the field and .444 from three-point range.
Marist has had three MAAC student-athletes of the week in the 2021-22 school year. Herasme joins Justin Scharf (men's soccer) and Morgan Owens (volleyball) in that category.
The Marist men's basketball team (2-2) will return to action on Saturday at Hudson Valley rival Army West Point. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. Free audio will be available on the Red Fox Network and Varsity Network app, and the game will be shown on ESPN+.
