POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – After coming back from the doubles point loss, Marist Men's Tennis posted four wins in singles, including a clinching victory from freshman
Gabriel Castillo, to seal a 4-3 victory over Quinnipiac on Senior Day at Marist's Tennis Pavilion.
The Red Foxes improve to 2-0 in the win, while the Bobcats fall to 3-3 in MAAC play and 5-4-1 overall.
- Quinnipiac swept the doubles point.
- Castillo and junior Dylan Friedman fell short against Austin Yannone and Aleksa Martinovic in the top flight, 5-7.
- Seniors John Oxner and Nestor Giribet Lopez dropped a 2-6 decision to Ayato Arakaki and Kemal Karagozoglu in the second spot.
- In No. 3, senior Piotr Sowinski and junior Jack Sequerth couldn't overcome Patrick Cachapero Shaurya Sood, 3-6.
- Friedman dropped the first set to Alester Magalit in the top billing, but rallied to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
- After falling 1-6 in the first set, Oxner won 7-6 (7-4) in the second against Arakaki in No. 2 singles, but the visitor triumphed in the third set, 6-3.
- Castillo, who finished last in the affair, won a 7-5 battle in the first set, then came out on top of a second-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3), over Karagozoglu in No. 3 singles.
- In the fourth position, Giribet Lopez cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Martinovic.
- Sowinski delivered a 6-2, 6-4 win in the fifth spot against Cachapero.
- No. 6 singles featured junior Augusto Gonzalez Bonorino fell to Sood, 1-6, 1-6.

- Before the match, the program honored Giribet Lopez, Oxner, and Sowinski for their final home matches of their careers.
- The MAAC will finalize the regular season standings the morning of Monday, April 19th.
- Currently, Marist (2-0 in the MAAC) is tied for fourth with Siena (2-3 in the MAAC) in conference wins. The top four teams make the 2021 MAAC Championships on April 24th-25th.
