POUGHKEEPSIE, New York –
Nick Foglia and
Max Heinrich of the Marist football team were both named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District on Thursday.
Foglia is a nose tackle who recently completed his junior year at Marist. He is a Business Administration major who named to Marist's Dean's List in the Fall 2020 semester, and is a two-time Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll selection. Foglia played in all 11 games in the 2019 season, with six starts. He had a career-high eight tackles against Cornell on Sept. 21.
Heinrich is also a Business Administration major who recently finished his junior year. He has made the Dean's List for three consecutive semesters. Heinrich served as the Red Foxes' top punter for the majority of the 2018 season, and forced fair catches on 11 of his 26 punts. He had six downed inside the 20, with a long of 53.
This is the second straight season Marist football has had two Academic All-District honorees. Grant Dixon and Jack Griffith were honored in the
2019 season.
Marist has now had three student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors this year. Nicole Sasso of women's soccer was honored on
June 3.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve at their current institution with a cumulative 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This year, due to challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, career statistics were submitted for nominees.
The Marist football team will open the 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Georgetown.
