Red Foxes Continue Three-Game Homestand

***EDITOR'S NOTE*** New Hampshire's national ranking was updated to 9th from the United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday, September 14th, after the initial publication of this article on September 13th. Their previous ranking was 12th.

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's soccer program faces two challenges to conclude its three-game homestand this week, beginning with a matchup against No. 9 New Hampshire on Tuesday, September 14th at 7 p.m.
 
Following that contest, Marist hosts Bryant on Saturday, September 18th at 7 p.m.

  • In its first home contest since November of 2019, Marist posted a 4-0 triumph over Howard, setting a new season-high in goals in the shutout.
  • Stefan Copetti (24'), Richard Morel (29'), Justin Jaime (36'), and Huib Achterkamp (73') found the back of the net.
  • Samuel Ilin and Dylan McDermott (two saves) combined for the shutout.
  • Dating back to 2019, Marist has won seven of its last eight games at home.

  • Marist and New Hampshire will meet in the second consecutive year where the Red Foxes have played a non-conference schedule.

  • The Red Foxes' last victory over a ranked opponent came on the road at No. 17 Pacific, a 1-0 decision on September 3rd at Pacific. Marcus Ginman, '19 scored the game's lone tally.
  • That season, Marist went unbeaten against Top 25 teams, also securing a draw against No. 12 Fordham.

  • The Red Foxes have registered three shutouts this year, already matching their season output from 2019.
  • Marist has allowed just two goals on the season and one in regulation. The former is tied with Quinnipiac for fewest in the MAAC.
  • Their 0.392 goals allowed per game leads the conference and is tied for 17th in the nation.
  • Individually, Ilin ranks 12th and 14th in Division I with his 0.28 goals-against average and .923 save percentage, respectively.

  • New Hampshire is a perfect 5-0 entering the matchup, most recently racking up a road win at Michigan.
  • UNH has outscored its opponents 7-1 this year; Providence was the only team to find the back of the net.
  • Six different Wildcats have scored in 2021, led by two from Tola Showunmi.
  • Jassem Koleilat has totaled a 0.20 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in all 450 minutes in goal. He has faced just 10 shots on goal and 35 total.

  • Tuesday will mark the sixth meeting all-time between Marist and New Hampshire.
  • The series is dead even at 2-2-1, though UNH has a three-game unbeaten streak.
  • Marist's last win came on September 14th, 2013, exactly eight years to the day of the upcoming game. Steven Arraiano and Nick Bramall netted goals, while Anthony Sokalski recorded an eight-save shutout.
