Marist Men’s Lacrosse Opens 2022 Campaign on the Road

The Red Foxes Begin their Season with a Big Test at Rutgers

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist men's lacrosse team opens the 2022 season with two games this week. Wednesday, February 9th, the Red Foxes face off in Piscataway, New Jersey against the #9 Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. On Saturday, February 12th, Marist travels to Binghamton for their second game of the season. The game starts at noon.
 
Last Time Out
  • The Marist men's lacrosse program was voted to finished second in the MAAC this year, receiving 41 votes. They finished just behind Monmouth, who received 46 votes.
  • Red Foxes JT Roselle and Jamison Embury found themselves on the Preseason All-MAAC Team. Roselle's selection was unanimous.
  • Last season, the men were only able to play four games due to COVID-19 restrictions. They finished 3-1 overall, and 2-0 in MAAC play. In last year's MAAC tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals to #4 Canisius, 14-13.
 
Scouting Rutgers
  • The Scarlet Knights ranked 9th in the country in the latest Men's Lacrosse Division 1 Preseason Poll.
  • Last Season, Rutgers finished 9-4, winning eight in-conference games. They beat Lehigh University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament but fell to #1 University of North Carolina in the next game.
  • Marist is 1-3 all-time against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
  • Rutgers started their season with a win against LIU by a score of 15-6.
 
Scouting Binghamton
  • The Bearcats will be opening their 2022 season against Marist this weekend.
  • Last season, Binghamton finished with an overall record of 5-4, all their games coming within conference play.
  • Binghamton was voted to finished fifth in the America East Conference this year, finishing ahead of only UMass Lowell and NJIT.
  • Marist has an all-time record of 5-5 against the Bearcats.
