POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team will be back on their home courts this Saturday to face off against Niagara University. The match was scheduled for a noon start time but is now set for 5 p.m. start at Cross Court.
 

LAST TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes comfortably won against Lafayette College, 6-1.
• In doubles, the Red Foxes swept, with Dylan Friedman and Carlos Vasquez winning in first position, Gabriel Castillo and Chrisitian Mills winning in second position, and Augusto Gonzalez-Bonorino and Jack Sequerth winning their third position match.
• In singles, the Red Foxes won all but one of their positions, which helped them easily collect the win.
• Notable performances came from Gonzalez-Bonorino in third position, who defeated his opponent, Luke Ritichie, 6-1,6-2, and from freshman Momotaro Kawahara, who collected his first varsity win in his sixth position match, 7-6, 6-1.

 

SCOUTING NIAGARA

• Niagara University is currently 7-6 this season, with their most recent match ending in a defeat at the hands of Michigan State, 6-1.
• Against the Purple Eagles, the Red Foxes have never lost a match, with their overall record being 22-0.
• Their last meeting resulted in a narrow victory for Marist, 4-3, on April 16, 2021.
