Men’s Lacrosse Featured in ESPNU Game Against the Bobcats

Red Foxes Look to Remain in Win Column

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's lacrosse team travels to Quinnipiac this weekend for their third in-conference game of the year. The game is scheduled to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist won its first MAAC game of the season, beating Siena 11-10 to improve to 1-1 in the MAAC.
  • Kellen Pulera and Jojo Pirreca each scored in the final two minutes to give Marist the victory.
  • James Lyons led the way for the Marist offense with four goals.
  • Pirreca filled the stat sheet with three goals and two assists and Pulera found the back of the net twice as well
 
Ranked Red Foxes
  • Anthony Novellano is currently fifth in the country for saves per game for Division I lacrosse and is third in the MAAC in saves per game.
  • Novellano is fifth in the MAAC in save percentage, .527.
  • Pirreca is also ninth in the MAAC in points per game (2.75).
  • Jason Intermesoli has totaled 13 assists on the year, and is second in the MAAC in assists per game (1.86).
  • Marist's JT Roselle is first in the MAAC in caused turnovers, averaging 1.64 per game and 13 total.
     
Against Quinnipiac
  • Marist and Quinnipiac played in the MAAC championship game three times in a five-year span – Marist won in 2015 and 2019, and Quinnipiac won in 2016.
  • Following the 2019 championship game, Marist's MAAC opener was scheduled against Quinnipiac in 2020 ... until the season was canceled by COVID two days before the Red Foxes were supposed to face Bobcats.
  • The last meeting against Quinnipiac was in 2021, in the first game after coming a 34-day pause. The Red Foxes won 14-9.
  • As a result of COVID/scheduling, this is the first game at Quinnipiac since 2019.
 
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
  • Marist has won the last three matchups against Quinnipiac and is 9-8 against the Bobcats all-time.
  • The last victory came by a score of 14-9 on April 20, 2021.
  • This year, the Bobcats are 1-6 and have lost six games in a row.
  • Quinnipiac's lone win came in its first game of the year against UMass Lowell by score of 15-14.
  • Sophomore Steven Germain leads the Bobcats in points (21) and goals (15) this season.
  • As a team, Quinnipiac has been outscored by its opponents, 90-70.
