Kiara Fisher Sets Single-Game Scoring Record in Red Foxes’ Victory

Junior Guard Scores 44 in Marist’s Win at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MarylandKiara Fisher set Marist's single-game scoring record with 44 points as she lifted the Red Foxes to an 83-77 victory at Mount St. Mary's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Thursday night.

  • Fisher shot 12-for-19 from the field, 4-for-7 from three-point range, and 16-for-16 from the free-throw line.
  • Fisher scored 10 points in the first quarter, seven in the second, 13 in the third, and 14 in the fourth.
  • In a 21-0 Marist run that gave the Red Foxes the lead for good, Fisher scored nine points in a span of 2:43.
  • Fisher sealed the win by scoring Marist's final eight points, all of which came on free throws in the final 25 seconds.
  • Fisher's 44 points marked the third-highest single game total in Division I this season. Iowa's Caitlin Clark scored 45 against North Carolina State on Dec. 1 and DePaul's Aneesah Morrow scored 45 at Northwestern on Dec. 10.
  • The previous Marist scoring record of 38 was set by Sydney Coffey at Canisius on Feb. 14, 2016 and Patty Powers against Stony Brook on Feb. 3, 1979.
  • Fisher's 44 points are tied for the fourth highest total in a MAAC game in conference history. It is the highest total in a MAAC game since Iona's Damika Martinez had 46 against Rider on Feb. 16, 2014.
  • Fisher also set the program record for free throws made in a game. The previous record of 15 was set by Danielle Galarneau on Feb. 23, 1991. The previous Marist record for most free throws made without a miss was 12, set by Rachele Fitz against Utah on Nov. 22, 2007.
  • Marist had 13 field goals from players other than Fisher, but she assisted on six of them.
  • Fisher also contributed three rebounds and two steals.
  • According to Mount St. Mary's, Fisher's point total was the highest in a women's game at Knott Arena in 33 years, and second highest ever. It is the highest point total for anyone at Knott Arena since Feb. 14, 2013, when the Mount's Sam Prescott also scored 44. Prescott played at Marist from 2009-11 before transferring to Mount St. Mary's.

  • The Red Foxes jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter and led 23-15 after 10 minutes.
  • Marist held a 34-27 lead with two minutes left in the first half, but the Mount outscored the Red Foxes 11-0 in the final 1:33 of the half and took a 38-34 lead to the locker room.
  • Mount St. Mary's lead peaked at 12 with 4:09 left in the third quarter. However, the Red Foxes closed the period on a 17-0 run and led 60-55 after 30 minutes. The run extended to 21-0 early in the fourth.

  • Maeve Donnelly tallied three blocks on the night, which was a game high.
  • Making the second start of her career, Jackie Piddock had her second double-digit scoring game with 10.
  • As a team, the Red Foxes set their season high for points in a game. It was Marist's highest point total since also scoring 83 at Army West Point on Dec. 5, 2020, the first game of the 2020-21 season.

  • Mount St. Mary's is 7-10 on the season and 3-5 in the MAAC.
