Women’s Basketball Set to Host Rider

Red Foxes Look to Earn Winning Record This Week

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team will play at home this Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m..  This will be the first time this season that the two MAAC teams meet.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes are coming off a 73-45 loss to Quinnipiac this past Saturday, Feb. 4.
  • Quinnipiac led the Red Foxes early 7-4, then a Kiara Fisher three pointer tied it at seven apiece.
  • The Bobcats pulled away from the Red Foxes with a 7-0 run to lead 18-10.
  • A second quarter 6-0 run for Quinnipiac extended their lead to 31-19.
  • Heading into the locker rooms at half the Red Foxes trailed 35-25.
  • Quinnipiac opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run. Red Foxes responded with a 7-0 run to cut the lead, 41-32.
  • Continuing to add to their lead the Bobcats lead at the end of the third quarter, 55-35.
  • The Red Foxes fell to the Bobcats by a score of 73-45.
  • Zaria Shazer led the Red Foxes with a double-double, 10 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Julianna Bonilla and Fisher scored eight points each.
  • Fisher tallied six assists.
  • Quinnipiac outrebounded the Red Foxes 47-33.
ABOUT RIDER
  • Rider is ranked tenth in the MAAC standings.
  • The Broncos are currently 5-17 overall and 2-11 in MAAC play.
  • Their two conference wins come from a win over St. Peter's (Dec. 31) and a win over Canisius (Jan. 12)
  • The Red Foxes have an all-time record of 49-19 over the Broncos.
  • Marist has won the last four out of five matchups against Rider.
  • The Broncos have the second best 3-Point Percentage (.323) in the MAAC, behind first place team Iona.
  • Makayla Firebaugh leads the Broncos in points with 292 total, averaging 13.3 per game (ranking 8th in the MAAC)
  • Amanda Mobley leads not only the Broncos but also the MAAC in assists per game with 5.9 (130 total assists).
