Women's Basketball Drops a Conference Game to Rider

Shazer Scores At Least 20 for Sixth Time This Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York -  The Marist Woman's basketball team's drops a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game against the Rider Broncs by a final score of 60-54.
 
Summary
  • Marist started the game off strong, with an 8-point lead going into the second quarter, by outsourcing Rider 22-14 in the first quarter.
  • Although, in the second quarter it was a different story. The Red Foxes struggled mightily shooting 2-11 (18.2%) from the field.
  • Due to the shooting woes from Marist, Rider was able to cut the deficit to only three going into halftime, as Marist was up only 29-26.
  • In the third quarter, Rider were dominant going on a 14-2 run, where they eventually took their first lead of the game midway through the third quarter.
  • However, the Red Foxes were able to finish the quarter strong with a 6-2 run to end the quarter, with Rider leading going into the fourth 46-42.
  • But Rider would answer right back, going on an 8-3 run to start the fourth, extending their lead to nine, going up 54-45.
  • The Red Foxes cut the Rider lead to four multiple times in the quarter, but it would not be enough as the Broncs held on by a final score of 60-54.

  • Zaria Shazer led the Red Foxes with 20 points shooting 5 for 15 from the field, and 10 for 12 from the free throw line.
  • Kiara Fisher also shot 5 for 15 from the field and 2 for 5 from the three-point line.
  • Makayla Firebaugh led Rider with 23 points shooting 9 for 17 from the field and 3 for 9 from beyond the arc.
  • Marist shot 32.7% from the field 17 for 52, and 5 for 18 from the three-point line 27.8%.
  • Rider shot 44.2% from the field 23 for 52, and 5 for 20 from the three-point line 25%. 
  • Rider outrebounded Marist 38-29.
  • Marist had the lead for 24:12, 60.5% of the game, while Rider only had it for 15:05, 37.7% of the game.
