POUGHKEEPSIE, New York –
Patrick Gardner of the Marist men's basketball team was named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District on Tuesday.
Gardner earned the honor in District 1, which consists of schools from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the America East Conference.
This season, Gardner was second in the MAAC in scoring (19.1 points per game), sixth in rebounding (6.6 per game), seventh in field goal percentage (.497), and eighth in blocked shots (1.0 per game). He was named MAAC Player of the Week on Jan. 16 after scoring a season-high 31, including the game-winner in the closing seconds, at Niagara the previous day.
Gardner, who previously played at Nassau Community College and Saint Michael's College, scored his 2,000
th collegiate point on Feb. 19 in a win over Niagara. He finished his collegiate career with 2,151 career points, and his 631 points this season were the third most in Marist's 43-year Division I history.
Gardner's efforts led the Red Foxes to a berth in MAAC Championship final, the first in the program's history. He was named to the MAAC All-Championship Team and was a Second Team All-MAAC selection.
