Marist’s Gardner Named Second Team All-Met

Gardner Earns Another Prestigious Honor

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York Patrick Gardner of the Marist men's basketball team was named Second Team All-Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) on Wednesday.

Gardner was previously named First Team NABC All-District, Second Team All-MAAC, and to the MAAC All-Championship Team. His total of 631 points this season was the third highest in Marist's 43 years as a Division I program. This season, Gardner was second in the MAAC in scoring (19.1 points per game), sixth in rebounding (6.6 per game), seventh in field goal percentage (.497), and eighth in blocked shots (1.0 per game). His efforts led Marist to the MAAC Championship final for the first time in program history.

At the end of March, Gardner participated in the State Farm College Team Skills and & 3X3U Championships as well as the Reese's Division I All-Star Game. He was then selected to play in the Portsmouth Invitational in April.

Gardner and the 2022-23 All-Met teams will be honored at the 90th MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown. The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.

There are 21 Division I schools covered by the MBWA. In addition to the MAAC, this year's All-Met honorees include schools from the Big East, Big Ten, Atlantic 10, Colonial Athletic Association, Patriot League, and Northeast Conference.
