Men's Lacrosse Moving On to Championship Game

Red Foxes Defeat Mount 19-7

RIVERDALE, New York - The Marist men's lacrosse team dominated Mount St. Mary's to move on to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship game. The Red Foxes defeated the Mount by a score of 19-7. 
 
Summary
  • Mount St. Mary's took an early 1-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring in the first 50 seconds of the game. 
  • Jamison Embury tied the game at one, from an assist by Hunter Embury. 
  • The Red Foxes went on a six-goal run to close out the first quarter leading 7-1, with goals from Jamison Embury (two), Jojo Pirreca, Peter Murray, Hunter Embury and Kellen Pulera. 
  • Jake Deacy opened the second quarter with a goal assisted by Hunter Embury. 
  • The Mount stopped the Red Foxes 8-0 run with a goal at 11:13 in the second quarter. 
  • J. Embury completed his hat trick at 11:51 in to give Marist a 9-2 lead. 
  • The Mount scored two straight to cut the lead to five. 
  • Joshua Balcarcel and Jojo Pirreca finished the second quarter with a goal each. 
  • The Red Foxes led at half 11-4. 
  • Daniel O'Meara shut the Mountaineers out in the third quarter, while the Red Foxes offense added to their lead. 
  • The Red Foxes have a five-goal third period, with tallies from Balcarcel (two), J. Embury, Tyler Ammirato, and Sam Ferrel. 
  • Another two goals for the Red Foxes to open the fourth quarter came from Pirreca and J. Embury. 
  • At 7:07 in the fourth, J. Embury connected for his sixth goal of the game. 
  • Marist closed out the game defeating Mount 19-7, to move onto the MAAC Championship.

  • It was A career high in saves for Daniel O'Meara with 19. 
  • J. Embury led the Red Foxes with eight points, six goals and two assists. 
  • Three Red Foxes collected a hat trick: J. Embury (six), Pirreca (four) and Balcarcel (three). 
  • Five Red Foxes scored a goal each: Pulera, Murray, Deacy, H. Embury, Ferrel and Ammirato.
