Men's Lacrosse Set for NCAA Opening Round at Delaware

Red Foxes Face Blue Hens at 7 p.m. Wednesday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's lacrosse team is set to take on #16 Delaware in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. This is Marist's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance (2005, 2015, 2019 and 2023).

Last Time Out

Marist claimed the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship after winning 12-7 over Siena. Their Fourth MAAC title in program history. Three under head coach Keegan Wilkinson.
Joshua Balcarcel, Kurt Wessner, and Dylan Bedell were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Daniel O'Meara was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
Joshua Balcarcel led the Red Foxes with four points, three goals and one assist.
Jamison Embury and James Lyons finished the game with three points, J. Embury three goals and Lyons one goal and two assists.
Sam Ferrel and Jojo Pirreca tallied two points each.
Kellen Pulera, Jake Deacy, Vinny Butrico and Hunter Embury had one point each.
Daniel O'Meara finished the game with 12 saves.
Kyle Stofko broke the school record for career-caused turnovers, totaling three against the Saints. He's currently at 63 caused turnovers for his career at Marist.
Aiden McCaffrey tied the school record for caused turnovers in a single season with 30.

MAAC Tournament

Jamison Embury led the team with 19 points in the MAAC tournament, 15 goals and four assists.
Pirreca has tallied a total of 14 points in the MAAC tournament, 11 goals and three assists.
Balcarcel recorded 11 points in the MAAC Tournmanet, 7 goals and four assists.
Goalkeeper Daniel O'Meara recorded 37 saves in three games.
Red Foxes scored a total of 29 goals in the opening round of the MAAC tournament. The most in Marist men's lacrosse history.
Dylan Bedell and Demitri George(QU) took the most faceoffs in NCAA History with 48.
50 total faceoffs in a game, most in a game in NCAA history. (The record was set earlier this year by Virgina and Harvard at 49.
Dylan Bedell is tied for 22nd in a game with 20 groundballs.

Scouting Delaware

Delaware won its second straight CAA conference title against Stony Brook to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
The Blue Hens offense is led by Tye Kurtz and JP Ward. The two both have collected 76 points on the season. Kurtz has scored 49 goals and dished out 27 assists. Ward has 36 goals and 40 assists.
JP Ward led the team in their conference title with six points, four goals and two assists.
Goalkeeper Matt Kilkeary has 164 saves on the year.

If the Red Foxes prevail on Wednesday, Marist will face #1 overall seed Duke on Sunday.
