Men’s Lacrosse Announces Incoming Class

Twelve Newcomers Join Defending MAAC Champions for 2024 Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Men's Lacrosse has brought in 12 student-athletes as it begins its MAAC title defense, Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson formally announced Tuesday afternoon.
 
Overall, the incoming class consists of 12 freshmen, with the group representing five different states, with six hailing from New York State and one Canadian province.

The newest Red Foxes are Steve Cain, Michael Cassano, Christian Colantonio, Kai Erkkila, Ryan Herr, Barret Jorgensen, Miles Lancaster, Sean Mullan, Tommy Nolan, Collin Patrick, Dylan Stadler and Luke Walser.
 
"The hard work of Dave Scarcello and JD Colarusso has been incredible in our goal to put together a tremendous 2023 recruiting class here at Marist," said Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson. "We know that this group of tremendous student athletes is eager for the opportunity to join all of our returners this fall to start their journey together towards competing for a MAAC Championship. This group is talented, fiercely competitive and incredibly loyal, traits that are at the foundation of our program. Our staff is thrilled to announce these twelve incoming players that will join our program this fall."
 
Steve Cain
    5'8 | Attack | Shoreham Wading River, New York | Shoreman Wading River High School
  • Cain finished his career with 113 points. During his senior year, he recorded 70 points, registering 32 goals and 38 assists.
  • Cain capped off his high school career by leading his team to the Long Island Championship game after winning the 2023 Class C Suffolk County Championship.
  • Multiple times during his career at Shoreham his team was ranked among the top 25 teams nationally.
  • As just an 8th grader in 2019, Cain was a member of the 2019 New York State Class C Championship team.
  • This past season Cain was named All-County following his senior year and was also named All-League after his junior year. 
  • Also, a standout in the classroom, Cain was named to the honor roll and the Principals List. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
     
Michael Cassano
    5'11 | Defense | Watagh, NY | General Douglas MacArthur High School
  • A three-sport varsity athlete, Cassano ran cross country, track and played lacrosse at General Douglas MacArthur High School.
  • Cassano was named All-County three times and was named team captain twice for his lacrosse team.
  • Over his career, Michael recorded 101 caused turnovers and 147 groundballs, along with collecting 12 points.
  • In his final season, he recorded 50 caused turnovers and 70 groundballs. Cassano is a threat in transition as well, where he scored six goals and dished out four assists.
  • Also, a standout in the classroom, Cassano was a four-year Renaissance Card Holder for district academic achievement, received the Principal's Award for School Service and was also a member of National Honor Society.
     
Christian Colantonio
    6'0' | Midfield | Mount Sinai, NY | Mount Sinai High School
  • Colantonio registered 80 points over three seasons at Mount Sinai High School as a midfielder.
  • In his final season, Colantonio scored 35 goals and dished out five assists.
  • Christian was a three-time County Champion and helped guide his team to a Long Island Championship in 2021 as a sophomore.
  • In the summer entering his senior year he was selected to participate in the Nassau vs. Suffolk All Star game, where he was named Most Valuable Player after scoring 5 goals including the game winner in over time.
  • During their 2022 season, Christian and Mount Sinai were ranked #3 in the nation and followed that up during the 2023 season when they were as high as #8 in national polls.
  • Brother Nick Colantonio plays for LIU men's lacrosse team.
 
Kai Erkkilä
    6'3 | Defense | Lively, ON | St. Andrew's College High School
  • A three-sport athlete, Erkkilä played volleyball, basketball and lacrosse at St. Andrew's College High School in Ontario.
  • As a defender he is a major threat with the ball, over his career he recorded 56 points, 20 goals and 36 assists. Including his senior year, where he dominated by collecting 15 assists and eight goals, along with 44 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
  • Erkkilä served as the varsity lacrosse team captain for the 2022-23 season. He was twice a member of the CISSA Champion team in both 2021-22 and 2022-23.
  • He was one of the youngest players selected among all qualifying teams to participate in the 2023 World Games when he was selected to represent Finland this past summer.
  • Erkkilä was also invited to the U20 Team Canada Development Camp.
     
Ryan Herr
    6'0 | Midfield | Wading River, NY | Shoreham-Wading River
  • A two-sport athlete, Herr played football three years of his high school career and lacrosse all four years.
  • He excelled on the lacrosse field as a do everything midfielder, finishing his career with 90 points, 45 caused turnovers and 130 ground balls.
  • This past spring, Herr finished his senior year with 37 points, 12 goals and 24 assists, 25 caused turnovers and picked up 70 ground balls, while also serving as team captain.
  • Along with fellow incoming freshman Steven Cain, Herr helped lead Shoreham to an appearance in the Long Island Championship game this spring during their senior year. A fantastic finish to their careers at Shoreham that began with a State Championship in 2019 when they were 8th graders on Varsity.
  • In his final season, Herr was named one of the Top 100 Players on Long Island by NewsDay and received All-County Honors.
  • An outstanding student, Herr was a member of the National Honor Society.
 
Barret Jorgensen
    5'8 | Defense | Baltimore, MD | Loyola Blakefield
  • Jorgensen is a two-sport athlete from Baltimore, Maryland. He played football and lacrosse at Loyola Blakefield.
  • A tenacious defender, Jorgensen helped guide Loyola to an appearance in the MIAA Semifinals, one of the nations most competitive high school lacrosse leagues.
  • For their work his team finished ranked 9th in the Mid Atlantic Region and 14th in the nation this past season.
  • Jorgensen's versatility and toughness allows him to play both down low at close defense and also up top as a long stick midfielder.
     
Miles Lancaster
    5'10 | Goalie | Clinton, MD | DeMatha Catholic High School
  • A three-time varsity lacrosse letter winner at DeMartha Catholic High School.
  • Lancaster closed out his senior season with a .615% save percentage, collecting 226 total saves.
  • He was twice named WCAC All-Conference Team and most recently was named to the prestigious Washington Post All-Met Team, along with being named Team MVP.
  • In the WCAC semi-finals this season, Miles recorded an amazing 28 saves against national power St. John's.
  • Lancaster was named one of the National Goalie Scout Top 30 Goalies in the country.
  • A standout academically, he was named to the honor roll all four years of his high school career.
 
Sean Mullan
    6'3 | Attack | Park Ridge, IL | Maine South High School
  • A three-sport athlete, Mullan played football, basketball, and lacrosse at Maine South High School.
  • Mullan finished his career with an impressive 317 points, 204 goals and 113 assists. Including a dominant senior year where he scored 127 points, 73 goals and 54 assists and was named All-American.
  • Mullan was three times named CSL All-Conference First Team. Along with earning First Team All-State in 2023.
  • He capped off his senior year by being named the CSL Conference Player of the Year.
  • Mullan was invited to the USA Lacrosse Illinois Senior All-Star game.
 
Tommy Nolan
    5'10 | Defense | Lakewood, Ohio | Saint Ignatius High School
  • Nolan was named a US Lacrosse All-American after a dominant senior year for Saint Ignatius. 
  • His performance this past spring led to him being named the Region Position Player of the Year. Along with being named Second Team All-State and First team All-Region.
  • This spring, Nolan recorded 15 caused turnovers and picked up 27 ground balls. For his career, Nolan had 40 caused turnovers, 73 ground balls and four points.
 
Collin Patrick
    5'7 | Midfield | Raleigh, NC | Middle Creek High School
  • Patrick collected an astonishing 248 points over his high school career as a midfielder at Middle Creek High School.
  • This spring he finished his senior year scoring 46 goals, dishing out 27 assists and recording 14 caused turnovers. His performance earned him All American honors at the completion of his senior year.
  • Patrick was a two-sport athlete, a member of the lacrosse and wrestling team.
  • He was named First Team All State, First Team All-Conference twice and first team All-Region three times.
  • Also, a standout in the classroom, a member of National Honors Society and graduated with honors.
Dylan Stadler
    5'10 | Midfield | Syosset, NY | Syosset High School
  • Stadler finished his career at Syosset with 70 points over two seasons. He missed the majority of his junior year due to injury. He rebounded from injury to finished his career with an outstanding senior season finishing with 48 points, 27 goals and 21 assists.
  • His performance during his senior year led him to being named All-County.
  • Stadler was a member of the 2021 County Championship team and helped to lead his team back to the Nassau County Championship game during his senior season.
  • His senior year, Stadler was selected to participate in the All-Long Island Games as one of the Top 50 Players on Long Island.
  • Stadler comes from a family of athletes, his father and mother played college basketball at Queens College and his older sister played lacrosse at UPenn.
  • He was selected to attend multiple prestigious recruiting showcases, including the Five-Star Showcase and Nike National All Star Games.
  • He also excelled in the classroom, earning Honor Roll.
Luke Walser
    6'1' | Midfield | Bay Shore, NY | Bay Shore High School
  • Walser capped off his senior year by collecting 35 points, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 11 others, along with picking up 33 ground balls.
  • Walser received the Knack Memorial Scholarship award and was named All-County in 2023.
  • A three-sport athlete in high school, playing football, golf, and lacrosse at Bay Shore High School.
  • Walser was selected to participate in the All-Start Game at New York State Regional Games when he was selected to represent Suffolk County. He was also selected to the 2022 Suffolk County All-Star Team.
  • Luke's sister plays lacrosse at Hofstra University.
