Marist Water Polo Splits Day One Of VMI Invitational

Red Foxes Defeated VMI 18-3 In First MAAC Win

LEXINGTON, Virginia- The Marist water polo team started MAAC play against Wagner and VMI, Saturday evening. The Red Foxes split the day of competition, falling to Wagner, and defeating VMI.

Match One Vs 18 Wagner

The Red Foxes trailed Wagner 4-2 after one quarter of play.
Going into halftime, the Red Foxes trailed 6-3 against Wagner.
The Red Foxes were outscored 3-1 in the third quarter and trailed 9-4 going into the final frame.
The Red Foxes fell 11-7 to Wagner in the first match of MAAC play.
Kaylee Brard recorded five of the seven goals in the match.
Two Red Foxes scored a goal in the match:

- Lela McCarroll
Inés Sánchez recorded nine saves in the match.

Match Two Vs VMI

The Red Foxes took an early 5-2 lead against VMI at the end of the first quarter.
The Red Foxes outscored VMI 4-0 in the second quarter, taking a 9-2 lead.
The Red Foxes defense blanked VMI for a second straight quarter in the third.
- The Red Foxes took a 12-2 lead into the final quarter.
The Red Foxes defeated VMI for their first MAAC win 18-3.
