Balcarcel Opts to Return for Fifth Year With Red Foxes

Men's Lacrosse Captain Returns for Graduate Season in 2025

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Marist men's lacrosse midfielder captain has announced his return to the Red Foxes for his fifth season of eligibility.

A native of Milford, Pa., Balcarcel announced his return to Poughkeepsie on social media. Balcarcel will be taking advantage of an NCAA waiver that allows student-athletes who competed during the 2020-21 season to use an extra year of eligibility.

"I got one more in me with the fellas," Balcarcel stated on Instagram. "Beyond blessed for the opportunity."

He will enter the 2025 season as a graduate student. Balcarcel joined the Red Foxes as a freshman in 2021 and recorded seven goals over his first two seasons. Balcarcel's breakout campaign came as a junior, where he concluded the season with MAAC All-Championship Team honors after helping lead Marist to its fourth MAAC title. That season, Balcarcel tallied 21 goals, 12 assists, and collected 15 ground balls.

Before his senior campaign, Balcarcel was named a captain, and the eighth player in program history to wear the number 34 jersey to honor the legacy of the late Eddie Coombs. This past season, Balcarcel tallied career-high totals of 30 goals and 21 assists for 51 points, en route to earning All-MAAC First Team laurels. He scored his 50th career goal this past season as well.
