POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team's home game against Siena on Friday, Jan. 31 has been chosen as an ESPNU Wildcard Game, it was announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning.
As a result, the game's tip-off time will now be 9 p.m.
This is the third time in the last four seasons that McCann Arena has hosted an ESPNU game. The Red Foxes won the previous two in front of vocal crowds:
- Feb, 25, 2022: 74-56 win over Manhattan on Senior Night before a crowd of 2,665.
- March 1, 2024: 58-55 win over Fairfield before a crowd of 2,301.
Four future Marist games are also eligible to be flexed to ESPNU for a Wildcard Game:
- Thursday, Feb. 6: at Fairfield
- Friday, Feb. 14: at Siena
- Friday, Feb. 21: vs. Canisius
- Friday, Feb. 28: at Sacred Heart
The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled on that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best match-ups as the season progresses.
Marist is currently 13-3 overall and 6-1 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes won their first six conference games for the first time in their 28 years in the MAAC, and their nine-game winning streak matched their longest in 18 years. Marist will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 23 at Niagara for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
