Red Foxes Set to Race at Dr. Sander’s Scorcher Invitational on Peacock

Marist Track & Field Gets Chance in National Spotlight on NBC/Peacock

MANHATTAN, NY – The Marist men's and women's track & field teams travel to Manhattan, New York for the Dr. Sander's Scorcher Invitational at the Nike Track and Field Center at the Armory for their fourth meet of the season. The event will be featured and broadcast on NBC and Peacock. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist track and field teams raced at the NYC Gotham Cup for their third meet of the season on Jan. 17, 2025.
  • On the women's side, Stephania Granados earned Marist's top finish of the day, coming in fourth with a time of 8.16 in the 60-meter dash.
  • In the same event, Alyssa Dapont and Mackenzy Nielsen placed fifth and eighth respectively with times of 8.25 and 8.28.
  • Sierra Fisher raced a 5:13.81 in the 1-mile run, earning herself a seventh-place finish in her first race of the 2025 season.
  • In the 1000-meter run, Julianna Mirabile placed sixth with a time of 3:02.26.
  • Grace Fletcher followed close behind in a time of 3:03.19 for eighth place, rounding out the top ten finishes of the day.
  • As for the men, Noah Brown earned third in the pole vault and Daniel Vargas fourth, both scoring 3.98 meters.
  • Simeon Washington also placed in the top ten for field events earning seventh in the long jump, jumping to 6.68 meters.
  • Freshmen Logan Schaeffler and Sean Wilson both earned top 10 performances as well.
  • Freshman, Logan Schaeffler (7th) ran a time of 1:57.76 in the 800.
  • Sean Wilson (10th) ran a time of 2:31.90 in the 1000-meter run.
WOMEN'S HISTORY AT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS INVITE
  • The Marist men's and women's track and field team has not competed at the Dr. Sander's Scorcher Invitational in over six years.
  • The Invitational will span two days from the 24th to the 25th.
  • Both the men and women's team will be taking a partial squad to the Armory for this meet ahead of their Boston University Terrier Classic.
  • On the women's side there will be 10 athletes competing on the first day of the meet, the 24th, and two on the 25th.
  • On the men's side there will be nine athletes competing on the first day and five on the second.
UP NEXT
  • The teams will be back in action from Friday Jan. 31st to Saturday Feb. 1st, when they will compete at the Boston University Terrier Classic.
  •  The event will take place at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
