LA MIRADA, California- The Marist water polo team played a late-night match to begin the midweek west coast trip, Tuesday night. The Red Foxes defeated Biola 15-10, led by
Emily Scheerer and
Lela McCarroll with four goals apiece.
Paige Naegle and
Ella Baumgarten continued their dominant performances with two goals apiece in the win.
The Red Foxes improved to 13-8 overall on the 2025 season.
- Quarter one:
- Kendell De Beer started the scoring for the Red Foxes with a goal 30 seconds into the match. The Red Foxes led 1-0 early in the quarter.
- Biola countered with a goal two minutes later to even the match at 1-1.
- The Red Foxes and Biola exchanged goals midway through the first quarter, which kept the match even at 2-2.
- Lela McCarroll scored her second goal of the quarter and put the Red Foxes up 3-2 after one period of play.
- Quarter two:
- At the start of the second quarter, the Red Foxes went on a 4-0 run, which extended their lead to 7-2.
- Biola countered with two goals midway through the second quarter and cut into the Red Foxes lead 7-4.
- The Red Foxes led 7-4 at halftime of the match.
- Quarter three:
- The Red Foxes started the third quarter with two goals from McCarroll and Callaghan Browne. The Red Foxes extended their lead to 10-4 to begin the third quarter.
- Biola answered with two goals in the quarter, but the Red Foxes added two more of their own and took an 11-6 lead into the final quarter.
- Quarter four:
- Both the Red Foxes and Biola scored four goals apiece in the final frame.
- The Red Foxes maintained the five goal lead and triumphed 15-10.
- The Red Foxes scored 15 goals on 24 shots in the win.
- The Red Foxes scored at an impressive clip with a .625 shot percentage.
- Inés Sánchez dominated once again, saving 11 shots in the win.
- As a team, the Red Foxes recorded nine steals in the win.
- The Red Foxes compete against Azusa Pacific in a match.
- The match is slated for March. 19 with first swim at 4 p.m.
