POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University men's lacrosse team earned a 15-7 home victory over Merrimack in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest at Tenney Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
- Brian Bouwman got Merrimack on the board at 13:18.
- Marist countered with three goals in the span of 1:52 by Drew Anderson, Mullan, and Deacy.
- Merrimack then scored back-to-back goals, but Dolan's second of the game put Marist up 8-3 at the 2:30 mark. The Red Foxes took the five-goal lead to the locker room.
- Collin Patrick opened the second half scoring with an assist from Balcarcel just 33 seconds in.
- Ryan Jones' first collegiate goal, set up by Patrick, put Marist up 10-3 at 13:54.
- Brendan Harty then scored for Merrimack, but Deacy's second of the day came at the 9:08 mark. Deacy then notched a hat trick 47 seconds later.
- Aidan Laurendeau cut Merrimack's deficit to 12-5 at the 7:30 mark.
- There were no goals in the second half of the third quarter, so the Red Foxes took a seven-goal advantage to the fourth.
- Merrimack scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to get within five.
- The Red Foxes received consecutive goals from Balcarcel, Ferrel, and Mullan to close out the victory.
- Five Red Foxes finished with five points apiece: Balcarcel (two goals, one assist), Deacy (three goals), Ferrel (one goal, two assists), Mullan (three goals).
- Dylan Bedell picked up a team-best nine ground balls and won 17 of 23 face-offs.
- Aidan McCaffrey caused two turnovers and had three ground balls.
- Marist held a 57-31 advantage in shots and a 39-25 edge in ground balls.
- Adam Wachholder stopped eight Merrimack shots.
- Marist is 7-6 this season and 5-2 in MAAC play.
- Merrimack is 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the MAAC.
- Marist closes out the regular season on Wednesday at Siena.
