Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short at Siena

LOUDONVILLE, NY. – Marist men's lacrosse came up short on the road at Siena in the regular season finale, 24-9, Wednesday afternoon on Hickey Field.

With the loss, Marist fell to 7-7 on the season and 5-3 in the MAAC, while Siena improved to 9-4 on the campaign and 7-1 in the MAAC with the win.





FIRST QUARTER



 
  • The Red Foxes struck first for two goals courtesy of Steven Cain and Drew Anderson to take an early 2-0 lead
  • After Siena fought to tie the contest at 2-2, Jake Deacy scored his 15th goal of the season to give Marist a 3-2 advantage
  • However, the Saints closed the frame with a 6-2 run to take an 8-5 lead into the second quarter





SECOND QUARTER



 
  • Anderson opened the scoring for Marist in the second quarter to trim the deficit to 8-6
  • Siena rattled off eight straight goals to carry a 16-6 lead into halftime





THIRD QUARTER



 
  • After falling behind 18-6, Collin Patrick and Cain scored back-to-back goals to trim the deficit to 10
  • The Saints closed the frame with two straight goals to carry a 20-8 lead into the fourth





FOURTH QUARTER



 
  • The deficit proved to be too much for Marist, as the Red Foxes came up short, 24-9

  • Sean Mullan led the offense with three goals and three assists for six points
  • Mullan has tallied three hat tricks in the last four games
  • Drew Anderson tallied three goals in the win
  • He's scored two or more goals in six straight games
  • This marked the third straight game where Anderson tallied a hat trick
  • Peter Murray, Jake Deacy and Josh Balcarcel added two goals apiece
  • Collin Patrick and Steven Cain added a goal apiece
