NEW ROCHELLE, New York – The top-seeded Marist University softball team defeated Rider, 1-0, in extra innings on Saturday to advance to the winners' bracket championship game of the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Championship inside Iona's Softball Park.

- With one out in the eighth inning, Miah McDonald reached second on a double to left.
- Two batters later, with two outs in the inning, Maddie Pleasants hit a pop-up in the infield, but the shortstop dropped the ball, allowing McDonald to score from third for the walk-off win                                                                                                                                    Â

- Maddie Pleasants (16-3) went the full eight innings on a one-hitter. She walked four batters and struck out 10. She needed 137 pitches to get through her outing.
- Haley Ahr led the offense with two hits.
- Miah McDonald and and Sienna Kunze added a double apiece.
- Anna-Marie Groskitz (13-11) went the distance for Rider and allowed seven hits.  Â
- Pleasants tossed her fifth shutout of the season and second against Rider this season.
- Pleasants has totaled 15 scoreless innings against the Broncs this season.
- Marist set a program record with its 46th win of the season. The Red Foxes previously won 45 games in 2016.
- Marist has now 16Â straight.

- Marist is 46-7-1 overall.
- Rider is now 25-33 overall.

- Marist will take on Siena in the championship round.
- The game is currently set for 9 a.m. Sunday.
- Marist needs one win to earn the championship, while Siena needs two. If a second game is needed, it will take place 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
