BOSTON, Mass. - Competing at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, the Marist women's track & field team delivered a strong slate of performances highlighted by multiple personal bests and a runner-up finish in the hurdles.
In the 3,000 meters, the Red Foxes turned in one of their most impressive events of the day.
Mallory Holloway led the charge with a 16-second personal-best time of 9:50.01. Holloway ran a controlled and consistent race, closing her final kilometer in 3:15.87 to dip under the 9:50 mark for the first time in her career.
Emily Litke also posted a breakthrough performance in the same race, shaving 18 seconds off her previous best with a time of 10:04.98. Litke finished strong over her final kilometer (3:20.42) to secure the personal record.
Abigail Kowalczyk added a collegiate and season-best effort of 10:02.56, narrowly missing the 10-minute barrier.
In the mile,
Julia Zydanowicz recorded a four-second personal best, crossing the line in 5:05.75. Zydanowicz capped her race with a strong final lap of 35.24, showcasing her finishing speed.
Kayla Hawkins followed with a time of 5:22.18.
The 800 meters featured a trio of season- and personal-best efforts.
Rebecca Maclaren ran a personal-best 2:19.01, while
Parker O'Brien (2:18.56) and
Sierra Fisher (2:21.47) each notched season-best times.
Melina Montgomery added a 2:27.33 performance.
In the hurdles, Marist saw one of its top finishes of the day as
Alicia Ramos placed second in the open 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37.
Madison LaCreta competed in the invitational section, clocking a 9.31.
The Red Foxes' season will continue at the Last Chance Invite on Friday, prior to Day One of the MAAC Championships.
