Red Foxes Prepped for Last Chance Invite & MAAC Championships

NEW YORK, NY - Marist men's and women's indoor track and field wraps its season this weekend at the Last Chance Invite on Friday, before competing in the MAAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT 
  • The Marist men's track & field team returned to competition Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University inside the Track & Tennis Center.
  • In the 400-meter dash, Marcel Stewart clocked a personal-best time of 51.94, continuing his steady progression during the indoor season.
  • The 800-meter group delivered one of the meet's biggest highlights. Miles Chamberlain led the way with a personal-best 1:54.19, executing consistent splits of 28.07, 28.44, 28.58, and 29.11. 
  • Dante Melfi added a personal-best performance of 1:58.47, winning his heat with a strong closing lap. Sean Wilson recorded a season-best 1:57.61, while Matthew Ferreri matched that time for an indoor personal best.
  • In the field events, Ramsey Heredia secured a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.59 meters (21 feet, 7.5 inches), marking one of Marist's top finishes of the evening.
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT 
  • Competing at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, the Marist women's track & field team delivered a strong slate of performances highlighted by multiple personal bests and a runner-up finish in the hurdles.
  • Mallory Holloway led the charge with a 16-second personal-best time of 9:50.01. Holloway ran a controlled and consistent race, closing her final kilometer in 3:15.87 to dip under the 9:50 mark for the first time in her career.
  • Emily Litke also posted a breakthrough performance in the same race, shaving 18 seconds off her previous best with a time of 10:04.98. Litke finished strong over her final kilometer (3:20.42) to secure the personal record.
  • In the mile, Julia Zydanowicz recorded a four-second personal best, crossing the line in 5:05.75. Zydanowicz capped her race with a strong final lap of 35.24, showcasing her finishing speed. Kayla Hawkins followed with a time of 5:22.18.
  • The 800 meters featured a trio of season- and personal-best efforts. Rebecca Maclaren ran a personal-best 2:19.01, while Parker O'Brien (2:18.56) and Sierra Fisher (2:21.47) each notched season-best times.
  • In the hurdles, Marist saw one of its top finishes of the day as Alicia Ramos placed second in the open 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37. Madison LaCreta competed in the invitational section, clocking a 9.31.

MEN'S LAST TIME OUT AT MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT AT MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
  • Alexandra Samperi (14th) broke the Marist school record in the 60-meter dash with a PR of 7.89.
  • Jenna Borselle (23rd) started the night off strong for the women's team setting the new Marist school record in the shot put with a distance of 9.92 meters.
  • Grace Murphy (24th) also threw a huge PR with a score of 9.51 meters. 
  • Adele Alexander placed fifth overall in the women's mile finals beating her season-best record with a PR of 4:59.20.
  • The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Sierra Fisher, Rebecca Maclaren, Grace Fletcher and Julianna Mirabile earned the women's first podium finish of the MAAC Championships, placing second with a time of 9:16.28.
