RICHMOND, VA. - The Marist women's outdoor track & field team opened its 2026 campaign on Friday at the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond at Robins Stadium. Competing in warm but extremely windy conditions, the Red Foxes turned in a strong first showing of the season, highlighted by six top-10 finishes and a record-breaking performance on the track.
Leading the way was
Gabrielle Bozeth, who wasted no time making history in her outdoor debut. After placing fifth in the 100-meter dash, Bozeth returned in the 200-meter dash and surged to a first-place finish in 24.88 seconds, setting a new Marist school record. Her mark broke the previous record of 25.45 set by
Julia Kropo in 2025, signaling an impressive start to the sophomore's season.
Marist also found success in the hurdles, where Julianna Mirabile delivered a standout performance with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Mirabile crossed the line in 1:03.83, earning one of the team's top finishes on the day.
In the field events, Alexandra Samperi led the Red Foxes with a second-place finish in the long jump. Samperi recorded a mark of 5.64 meters (18 feet, 6 inches), continuing her consistency as one of the team's top jumpers.
Back on the track, Julia Kropo turned in a strong effort in the 400-meter dash. She placed sixth overall with a time of 57.86 seconds, finishing just 0.03 seconds shy of her own school record.
The Red Foxes also saw a top-10 finish in the distance events, as Parker O'Brien placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:40.72. Across the board, Marist showcased depth in multiple events, gaining valuable early-season experience against a competitive field.
Marist will be back in action next weekend at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State.
