POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist University senior center fielder
Peyton Pusey was named Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Pusey spearheaded Marist's offense in the Red Foxes' 5-0 week by hitting .533 (8-for-15) with a 1.486 OPS (.867 slugging, .619 on-base) and 10 runs scored. She also contributed one home run, two RBIs, two doubles, five walks, and a sacrifice fly. In four of Marist's five games, Pusey led off by not only reaching safely, but scoring the Red Foxes' first run of the game. She had two games with four runs scored, and two games with three hits.
In the first game of a doubleheader against CAA foe Monmouth on Wednesday, Pusey led off the bottom of the first with a home run, which led to a four-run first in Marist's 11-3 win. She was not retired in the game, as she went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. in game two against Monmouth, she walked and scored in Marist's three-run first as the Red Foxes earned a 6-3 victory. In game one against Canisius on Friday, Pusey went 3-for-5 in Marist's 8-2 win. She went 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, and sacrifice fly in the Red Foxes' 8-5 win in game two. She closed out the week by scoring four runs in Marist's 15-4 win on Saturday, as she went 1-for-2 with three walks and a double.
This is the fifth MAAC weekly award in Pusey's career. It is her fourth career Player of the Week honor, and her second this season.

Marist (29-19), which has won nine straight and locked up the MAAC regular-season championship, returns to action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Manhattan. First pitch of game one is set for noon.
