POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Five Marist University softball student-athletes –
Haley Ahr,
Sienna Kunze,
Isabella Manory,
Ava Metzger, and
Peyton Pusey – were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.
The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize standouts in the classroom and on the field. Eligibility requirements include being of at least sophomore standing athletically and academically, having a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, and meeting playing time requirements regarding games played and/or starts. There is a maximum of five honorees per team in softball.
Ahr and Pusey were named Academic All-District for the third time in their careers. Last year, Ahr was named a Second Team Academic All-American.
On the field, Pusey was named MAAC Player of the Year, Most Outstanding Player of the MAAC Championship, and First Team NFCA All-Region. Ahr was named First Team All-MAAC for the fourth straight year, and she was named to the MAAC All-Championship Team. Kunze was named Second Team All-MAAC and to the MAAC All-Championship Team. Metzger earned a spot on the MAAC All-Championship Team. Manory set career highs in batting average (.301), runs (31), hits (44), doubles (nine), triples (two), RBIs (28), walks (29), and slugging percentage (.534) this season.
The Marist softball team won its second straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship, and third in four years, this season. Ahr, Manory, and Pusey became the first three players in program history to play in three NCAA Tournaments.
