POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist head football coach Jim Parady has announced the addition of 41student-athletes to the program for this season. The class includes newcomers from 12 states, including the program's first recruits from Georgia, Illinois and North Carolina.
The class includes 12 offensive linemen, five defensive backs, four wide receivers, four defensive linemen, four linebackers, four safeties, two quarterbacks, two running backs, two tight ends, one kicker and one long snapper. The Red Foxes will be bringing in 12 from New York, 11 players from New Jersey, four from Connecticut, three from Florida, two from Georgia, two from North Carolina, two from Ohio, and one apiece from Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
"I felt that overall, we have added players who will be able to come to camp and push our returning players for playing time and help us compete for a league championship," Parady said. "The Pioneer Football League has enabled us to expand our recruiting areas across the country while still being able to attract some of the best local players."

Helped lead high school team to back-to-back sectional championships and was named Kingston Freeman Player of the Year as a senior.
Norman Bowen - Offensive Lineman - 6-3 / 285 - Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Franklin D. Roosevelt H.S. / Dutchess CC
A local product who played scholastically at Franklin D. Roosevelt and spent last year at Dutchess Community College.
Mike Brerton - Offensive Lineman - 6-3 / 280 - Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac
Earned All-League honors as a senior, Rookie of the Year as a freshman and won the Bryan Higgins Memorial Trophy for outstanding school-athlete.
Conor Brownell - Tight End - 6-4 / 230 - Killingworth, Conn. / Xavier-Middletown
Named All-Area at tight end as a junior and senior, and helped lead his team to state semifinals as a senior.
Brandon Castelbuono - Offensive Lineman - 6-3 / 290 - Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley
Named First Team All-County and First Team All-Conference while serving as team captain in senior year.
Eugene Ciniglio - Defensive Lineman - 6-2 / 240 - Merrick, N.Y. / Bellmore Kennedy
Named All-Conference twice and was named his team's Defensive MVP as a junior and senior.
R.J. D'Apolito - Running Back - 5-9 / 195 - Ocean Township, N.J. / Ocean Township
Named All-County, All-Division and Second Team All-Shore as a senior.
Richard Davis - Defensive Back - 6-0 / 170 - Shrewsbury, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic
Helped lead team to division and conference championships as a senior, and was named Outstanding Defensive Skill Player.
Pat Desautels - Offensive Lineman - 6-4 / 255 - Manchester, Conn. / East Catholic
Named All-Conference, All-State and Team MVP; is the brother of Marist rising junior defensive lineman James Desautels.
David Diomede - Tight End - 6-3 / 235 - Park Ridge, N.J. / Park Ridge
Was named Co-Offensive MVP and Second Team All-League.
Steven Diomede - Defensive Lineman - 6-3 / 225 - Park Ridge, N.J. / Park Ridge
Was a two-time First Team All-League selection and Defensive MVP.

Was a two-time All-County and All-Conference selection who was also named Team and Offensive MVP.

Earned All-State Super 100, All-Shore, All-County and All-Division honors while also serving as team captain.

Earned All-District honors and was named Lifter of the Year, and registered 78 tackles and four interceptions as a senior.

Earned two All-State and All-League selections, and was named Fox 8 Athlete of the Week.
Hugh Kirwan - Safety - 6-1 / 215 - Montvale, N.J. / Pascack Hills
Was a unanimous First Team All-League selection at safety as a senior, and was named Second Team All-County.
Timothy Lamezec - Offensive Lineman - 6-3 / 260 - Tuckerton, N.J. / Pinelands
Was named MVP, First Team All-Shore and Third Team All-State.
Chuckie Looney - Quarterback - 5-11 / 175 - Ocala, Fla. / North Marion
Named First Team All-Area and Third Team All-State while helping lead to team to state finals.
Atiq Lucas - Running Back - 5-10 / 185 - Coram, N.Y. / St. Anthony's / Suffield Academy
Lucas played scholastically at St. Anthony's High School and had a prep season at Suffield Academy.

Played on team which won 2009 national championship and four state championships.

Was named All-State, All-Area, All-Conference and Defensive MVP while serving as team captain and helping lead squad to third-place finish in state in 2009 and third-place finish in 2008.

Named First Team All-State as senior, Best Offensive Lineman at his school as a junior and senior, and Nike Camp 2009 MVP.
Timothy Wine - Wide Receiver - 6-3/ 200 - Northport, N.Y. / St. Anthony's
Was named NYCHSFL championship game MVP and was an All-League selection.
"This is a very talented and deep freshman class," Parady said. "Our numbers were very low with our returning offensive linemen and the coaches addressed our biggest need by signing a quality group of big, athletic offensive linemen."
The Marist football team concluded the 2009 season at 7-4 overall with a 5-3 mark in its first season as a member of the Pioneer Football League. The Red Foxes tied a program record for victories in a season, and set a program mark with six straight wins last year. Marist will open its 2010 season at home against Sacred Heart on Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
