POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Andrew Copelan, formerly the interim head men's lacrosse coach, was promoted to head coach Marist Athletics Director Tim Murray announced on Monday. In addition, Copelan will also assume the duties of Director of Intramural and Club Sports.
Copelan powered the Red Foxes to an undefeated 8-0 MAAC mark during the 2004 regular season and a 10-7 mark overall, the best record for Marist since 1988. The 10 wins for Copelan's squad was also the most in any season since the Red Foxes went 12-2 in 1986.
Copelan, the 2004 MAAC Coach of the Year, boasted five selections to the first and second All-MAAC squads, including 2004 MAAC Player of the Year Keith Detelj.
Prior to coming to Marist, the Pittsford, N.Y. native was a four-year starter for Bucknell where he led the Bisons to four straight Patriot League titles, including the program's first ever NCAA berth in 2001.
