Red Fox Men's and Women's Indoor Track Begin Competition at Terrier Classic

Jan. 26, 2002

Boston, Mass---The Marist College men's and women's indoor track and field teams began competition at the Terrier Classic last evening, held in Boston, Mass. Mike Nehr (West Babylon, NY) and Liza Grudzinski (Branford, Conn.) led the way for the Red Foxes, in the first night of competition.

Nehr competed in the 3,000-meters and broke his own school record, in 8:24.42, erasing the old mark, which he set last season. Crossing in 14th place, he qualified for the IC4A Championships, being held March 2nd-3rd, in Boston, Mass.

Grudzinski, racing in the 5,000-meters (17:36.12), finished 16th overall. Her performance was good enough to qualify her for the ECAC Championships, also being held March 2nd-3rd, in Boston, Mass.

The track and field action continues on Saturday for Red Foxes at the Terrier Classic. Marist's next competition will be on Sunday, February 3rd, at the Metropolitan Championships, being held in New York, NY.
