Men's Lacrosse Opens Season with 13-5 Loss at Lehigh

Bethlehem, PA - The Marist College Men's Lacrosse team opened their 2002 season with a 13-5 loss at host Lehigh in Bethlehem, PA. The Red Foxes (0-1) fell behind 4-0 before senior Chris LaRose (Merrick, NY) put them on the board with a goal at 4:37 in the second quarter.

Senior Paul Donohue (Fair Lawn, NJ) led the Marist offense, scoring all three of his goals in the fourth quarter, while sophomore Josh Ben-Eliyahu (East Setauket, NY) added a goal and an assist of his own.

Lehigh (1-0) built a 5-1 half time advantage and outshot Marist 39-23 on the afternoon. They also held a 13-7 advantage in face-offs and a 49-23 advantage in ground balls.

Junior goalie Brian Schumeyer (Farmingdale, NY) made 16 saves in goal for the Red Foxes, while Matt McNemey stopped five shots in goal for the Mountain Hawks.

The Red Foxes will return to action on Saturday, March 2nd at 5:00 PM when they take on Hartford at Springfield College in Massachusetts
