Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's tennis team won their season opener over Wagner College by a score of 6-1. Play was held at the Dutchess Racquet Club.
In singles action, Patrick Hofer (Falkenweg, Austria) won 6-1, 6-0, over John Pruett at the number one position. At number two singles, David Slater (St. Alban's, UK) defeated Stan Johnson 6-1, 6-0. Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY) won by default at number four singles after taking the first set, 6-1, over Jeff Quitmeyer. Michael Nassif (Ames, IA) was victorious at number five singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Brandon Sogluizzo. Alain Boletta (Abington, PA) claimed victory at number six singles by forfeit.
The Red Foxes took all three doubles matches as Hofer and Aldorsson won at number one doubles, 8-5. At number two doubles, Slater and Boletta won 8-3. Sapezhnikov and Nassif took the number three doubles match by forfeit.
Marist returns to action this weekend when they travel to Providence, RI to play in the Brown Invitational from September 20th-22nd.
