Women's Tennis Enjoys First Day Success at Army Tournament

>b>West Point, NY- The women's tennis team enjoyed first day success Friday at the Army Tournament with two players advancing to the quarterfinal rounds.

Sophomore Yana Krugly defeated Kilnita Jude of Pittsburgh, 6-3, 6-0 in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals. Freshman Megan Gureck continued her solid play by defeating Adrianna Segura of Hofstra, 6-4, 6-3 to also advance.

Sophomore Yana Tikhonko earned a first round bye, but fell in the second round to the number four seed, Christine Lieher of UMass in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 12-10. Junior Diana Perachio played well but was unable to defeat Allison Davidson of St. John's University, losing in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles action, the duo of Courtney McGeever and Katie Szymanksi beat Fairfield, 8-2, but lost in the second round to Army, 10-4.

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, October 4th, for the second day of competition at the Army Tournament.
