Worcester, MA-The Marist College women's lacrosse team fell, 12-7, in the cold weather to the Holy Cross Crusaders at the Hart Center Astroturf Field this afternoon. The Red Foxes now post a 1-1 record overall, while the Crusaders are 3-2.
For the second straight game, sophomore Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY) netted four goals, while recording two assists, in her five-point outing. Senior captain, Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NJ) put up her second and third goal of the season, while also handing out two assists. Molly Hanley (Simsbury, Conn.) had another strong game recording a goal and two assists for the Red Foxes. Sophomore Lauren Sherman (Media, PA) dished out three assists for the game.
Sophomore Heather Ripp (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) had another strong performance despite the loss, recording 19 saves. That puts her in a tie for seventh on the all-time list for most saves in a game. The last time a goalkeeper had that many saves in a contest was in 1997.
The Red Foxes return to action Wednesday, March 12th, when they take on Central Connecticut in their first home game of the season on Leonidoff Field at 3:00 p.m.
