Women's Softball Falls To St. Peter's 4-2 And 14-4

Jersey City, NJ-The Marist College women's softball team fell to conference rival St. Peter's, 4-2 and 14-4, this afternoon. The Red Foxes are now 1-16 on the season and 0-4 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

In the first inning of game one, leadoff hitter, Chrystine McHugh (Port Ewen, NY) hit a triple and scored on a single by senior shortstop Kathleen McEvily (White Plains, NY). McHugh had two hits for the Red Foxes in the game. The Peahens drove in three in the first off of starting pitcher, Nicole Fox (Temecula, CA).

St. Peter's scored again in the third, making the score 4-1 before McEvily doubled, as she went 3-3 in the game, and then scored off a single by Kara Lacey (Cheshire, Conn.).

Fox pitched a complete game for the Red Foxes, giving up four runs.

In the second game, Marist dropped a 14-4 decision, which was stopped due to the eight-run rule with two outs in the sixth inning. Nichole Rawson (Palmdale, CA) pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up seven runs, before Danielle Blake (Doylestown, PA) came in and pitched two innings, giving up seven runs.

The Red Foxes scored two in the second when Bryanne Thitchener (Poughkeepsie, NY) hit a two-run double, scoring Rawson and Melissa Ramos (Williston Park, NY). In the fourth inning, Marist put two more on the board when McHugh cracked a two-run double, scoring Rawson and Ramos.

The Red Foxes return to action Tuesday, April 1st when they play at Stony Brook in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match-up.
