Loudonville, NY - The Marist College water polo team defeated MAAC foe Siena for the second day in a row, winning 14-11 on Sunday. The Red Foxes improve to 2-2 on the season, with a 1-1 record in MAAC play. Marist won the first meeting against the Saints 14-8 on Saturday at the McCann Center Natatorium.
Marist led 6-2 after the first quarter of action, as Alyson Fiorillo (Pottsville, PA) scored twice. The Red Foxes would add three more goals to take a 9-2 lead, before Siena (0-2) countered with three goals of their own to make it 9-5 at the half.
Marist added four unanswered goals in the third quarter to increase the lead to eight, before the Saints tallied three more to pull within five at 13-8 heading into the fourth quarter. Siena was unable to mount a large enough comeback as Marist sealed the victory with a goal at 4:05 in the fourth by Ashley Woerner (Hinsdale, IL).
Fiorillo led Marist with four goals, while Joelle Evanousky (Barnesville, PA), Woerner, Susan Grant (Bell Canyon, CA), and Carolyn Rosler (Blue Bell, PA) each scored twice.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, March 15th, when they head west to San Bernardino, CA to take on La Verne, Cal Tech, and host Cal State San Bernardino.
